Eligibility, registration
and payment

1. Who can partake in RED’s training courses?

Our training courses are designed for dance teachers working in recreational, competitive and pre-professional schools and for dance school managers.

2. How is the cost of a training programme established?

The actual price of a RED training course is calculated by dividing total expenses by the expected number of participants. Personalized training courses are calculated the same way and are non-negotiable. The actual price applies to all participants.

For example, a training course with expenses of $4,000 and an estimated 10 participants costs $400.

However, RED can occasionally offer a subsidized rate for its regular training courses thanks to the financial aid of various partners (Services Québec, Commission des partenaires du marché du travail, ministère de la Culture et des Communications, etc.). The subsidized rate applies to participants who meet the requirements of the funder. This possibility does not apply to personalized training.

3. Who can benefit from the subsidized rate for training courses?

Every financial partner sets its conditions, but are generally admissible:

  • Any artist or cultural worker;
  • Canadian citizen (or permanent resident);
  • Resident of Quebec;
  • 18 years and over.

An employee of an organization subject to Quebec’s Loi sur les compétences du Québec with a payroll of over two million dollars must pay the actual cost of the training course.

4. May I partake in a training course even if I am not eligible for the subsidized rate?

You may if you are a member of our targeted clientele (answer 1). However, if you don’t meet the criteria for the subsidized rate (answer 3), you will have to pay the actual cost. In rare cases, it might not be possible to participate.

Non-subsidized tailor-made training courses organized by RED are generally accessible to all.

5. Why these criteria?

Mainly because provincial financial partners aim to foster skills development in local artists, cultural workers and teachers, so their achievements can benefit the entire Quebec artistic network. Funders also aim to develop skills within the workforce to improve ability and employability. RED’s training courses offer professional development (continuing education) and not initial training.

6. Can RED intervene?

RED works hard at developing and maintaining strong partnerships with different ministries, and the community can consider itself lucky to benefit from financial aid for quality continuing education. That is why we make a point of totally respecting the terms established by our partners.

RED seizes every opportunity to help the sector evolve by alerting its partners to the specific realities of dance and defending the needs of dance schools and teachers.
